James Dean knew how to rock a plain white tee to synonymous perfection and right after the ‘boyfriend’ hoodie it’s possibly the next item most stolen by the girls from their bf’s wardrobe.
Yet, the humble t-shirt is possibly the most loved and worn, yet underrated item of clothing in our closets, behind undies and sock of course!
This classic piece however just got an upgrade from humble to hero. Live The Give have created a business grounded in supporting efforts to ensure all children around the world get a quality education using an organic cotton tee as a conduit.
We chatted to founder Najat Murillo about giving back and consuming consciously.
Najat was inspired to start Live The Give from her previous experience as an elementary school teacher where she witnessed first hand the impact quality education has on children.
Unfortunately, many children today are not receiving the schooling they deserve. According to UNESCO Institute for Statistics (UIS) data, approximately 263 million children and teens are not in school. 25 million children will never learn to read or write in primary school.
“It has always been my passion to help make a positive impact in our world and I believe that this can be achieved primarily through education for all children. I felt that by creating Live the Give, I could not only, with the help of others, support global education monetarily but also help by spreading awareness about its importance. ”
Live the Give offers a range of T-shirts, tanks and singlets for men and women and $3 from each purchase is donated to UNICEF’s Education Programs.
“With the funds, UNICEF works tirelessly to ensure that every child – regardless of gender, ethnicity or circumstances – has access to quality education. The funds we raise reach the children through UNICEF Najat explains.”
The tees don’t just feel good for your soul but are super soft to touch. Najat says the clothing is made to feel luxuriously soft and made to fit and flatter the unique body shapes of men and women.
They use high quality materials to ensure you can keep your tee for a long time and every tee is made in factories that are WRAP certified so we can rest assured the people who are making our clothes are being treated fairly, ethically and working in safe conditions.
“We value the importance of education for all children and believe that education is fundamental in changing the world. We also value our customers’ satisfaction and guarantee quality.”
Najat encourages you to make the tee your own by dressing it up or down and says they are very versatile and perfect for work followed by a night out.
Keep an eye out for new styles coming soon including tee dresses!
