Natural Beauty Brand Review – Bab’s Bodycare

Kate Hall

You know all those how-to videos on Facebook showing you how you can make your own deodorant, mix oils to cleanse your skin, and basically become a wizard in just 2 minutes?

Well, I wish this review was about how I’ve mastered them all, but I haven’t. Not even close. Thank the beauty gods for Babs Body Care- they do all the hard work for me.

Finding natural beauty products that work isn’t a walk in the park. It’s actually more of a rollercoaster ride which leaves you feeling confused, dizzy, and a little messed up in the face. It’s such a hit and miss.

Take my word, Babs Body Care have created some wicked cool products that I trust and use on the regs.

My number one favourite: the facial cleansing oil. I use this to take my makeup off every night. The ultimate sign of a good makeup remover is that you don’t have black crusty stuff around your eyes the morning after. I checked: it passed with flying colours!

The beauty of this wee guy is you only use a squirt or two on your facecloth or makeup pad, meaning it’s going to last you at least 3-4 months. Hello savings!

Although I try to keep my beauty products to a minimum, I’ve recently learnt the benefits of body oil, and there’s no going back. The Babs body oil is a little scary at first, I’ll warn you. Most mainstream body oils smell like unicorn breath and make you want to roll in them. But this usually means they have strong chemicals; it’s hard to conjure up unicorn breath without harsh chemicals I’ve heard.

"Finding natural beauty products that work isn’t a walk in the park. It’s actually more of a rollercoaster ride which leaves you feeling confused, dizzy, and a little messed up in the face. "

Babs body oil did smell a little ‘natural’ for me at the start, hence the warning. But after using it just 2 times, I found myself hooked. The natural smell warms on you, and I’ve ended up treating it like unicorn breath- though I put it mainly on my décolletage and hips.

You can get by missing a few days of oils, not wearing makeup, or forgetting to moisturise, but deodorant… this shit just got serious. Deodorants keep us from killing the person next to us. Therefore, in my opinion, they are the most important part to our beauty regime. Babs have created a natural deodorant paste that smells minty fresh, but not too strong. You rub a small pea sized blob onto your pits and wa-la! I was sceptical at first about staining my clothes with the oil content, but I’ve never had problems. I’ll be honest, it took a while for my body to get used to the paste and for my usual roll on habits to trust it, but since using Babs deodorant, I’ve avoided any type of shaving rash or armpit discomfort. Win!

To top Babs natural brilliancy off, their products come in the cutest glass jars which can be recycled or reused. This floats my zero-waste boat. Basically, Babs Body Care have hit the nail on the head when it comes to natural beauty products. We all have those friends who complain about how natural beauty products smell like dirt, never work, and turn you into a hippy. Next time they blab on, shove Babs in their face. Take that you non-believers!

I live and breathe sustainable living and ethical fashion. This alternative way of consuming and existing dominates my every waking moment- and sometimes more. Ethical fashion and living are no longer my hobbies, it has become my mission... to change the future of fast fashion and the way we consume. My husband and I strive to live a zero-waste lifestyle, live at thrift stores, and always look to 'up-cycle' rather than throw out. Eco-living is not a choice for me, it's in my blood, and I am trying with all my power for it to be the new 'norm'.
