Oh Mabel Organic Cotton Bed Sheets – Because Life’s Too Short For Beige

Kira Simpson

When you consider the fact we spend almost a third of our lives sleeping, you want your bedding to be amazing.

For any eco-minded lover of sleep, investing a good set of organic cotton sheets is a no brainer. While there are some wonderful organic bedding brands out there, they mostly only come in white, grey and neutrals.

With a philosophy of “Life’s too short for beige”, Oh Mabel has set out to change the bedding industry and offer something a little quirky and a lot colourful for those of us who want to bring a pop of sunshine in our bedrooms.

"Beautiful bed linen made for your beautiful memories. We want to be a business that promotes the values we want to see in the world and only use certified organic cotton and partner with fair trade makers. Because we all deserve a beautiful life"

The vintage inspired sheet sets are 100% GOTS (Global Organic Textile Standard) certified organic cotton. This means your soft as a kitten bedding is grown, produced and manufactured ethically and in a way that wont harm the environment.

Each set comes complete with a fitted sheet, top sheet and a pillowcases, available in Single, Double, Queen and King sizes, in three gorgeous prints whimsically named Polly’s Garden, Ellie’s Pinwheels (my favourite) and Hettie’s Dream. The collection also includes a winter and summer throw and pillowcases you can purchase individually.

The story

“I started Oh Mabel in 2011 as a bed linen brand that showcased colour and pattern and texture. Because that’s what I loved.  I made sure that I only used production methods and materials that were environmentally and socially conscious.  Because that’s what I believed in.

Then, in 2012, everything changed. I held my newborn daughter as she passed away.  In that one moment life turned upside down.  My values changed.  What I wanted from life changed.  What I considered important in life changed.  What I wanted to be in this world changed.

And so did Oh Mabel.  Now, I create Oh Mabel to be part of the values I hold so dear.  I want to inspire you to slow down and treasure the little moments in life that are the building blocks to who we are.  I want Oh Mabel to be there as the backdrop to those moments.  To be the anchors for memories that hold us close to ourselves and to the people we love. To be the connection between the goods we buy and how they become part of our life stories.”

I’m a firm believer in good design and product quality first. A brand should always put aesthetics at the forefront of their designs and incorporate ethics and sustainability into their business practices.

Sarah has done a brilliant job of this, letting Oh Mabel’s products speak for themselves while creating a business which puts people and the planet first.
