The Story
Mayamiko is a lifestyle fashion brand that creates limited edition, beautifully cut and sewn womenswear, in individually hand-picked and unique fabric combinations from Malawi, Africa and other beautiful places around the world.
With their timeless styling, our collections offer the modern, versatile, global woman a fashion-forward, effortlessly individual, and sustainable way to bring to life any look. Whichever your favourite, whether dressing down, dressing up our going out, you will always stand out and make an impression.
Each piece is ethically made in our workshops where we train, employ and support disadvantaged members of the communities we work in.
And because we don’t believe in filling shelves with clothes for the sake of it, our collections are bespoke and don’t follow the fast fashion calendar
‘We carefully craft our collections so each piece can be worn, treasured and enjoyed across seasons. Play with layers, dress it up or down, experiment with contrast and have fun with it. Look wonderfully unique, and it’s good for your soul, for the people behind the label and for the planet.’
The key is to choose well, buy less, make it last and find your own style.
While our styles are perfect for the warmer weather, Winter doesn’t need to be so somber either, brightening up your wardrobe with these mix and match items is a fun and creative way to make winter dressing on trend.
The Mayamiko label was inspired by and established to give a sustainable future to Mayamiko Trust’s beneficiaries.
We do so by paying the trust’s beneficiaries ethical and fair prices for their work, and also by donating part of our profits. Mayamiko Trust is a UK registered charity working to help people lift themselves out of poverty.
Mayamiko Trust follows an innovative approach to aid – as opposed to sending money to Africa, we aid communities by trade, helping people to lift themselves out of poverty by means of sustainable activities.
We make beautiful clothes in unique prints, custom made dresses, tops, trousers, skirts, co-ordinates.
Garments made by the Mayamiko production unit have been featured on Vogue, Grazia, Cosmopolitan and on the Guardian website.
