Mattel is celebrating International Women’s Day by releasing a collection of 17 new Barbie Dolls based upon inspiring female role models and women making history.
The dolls are part of the “Shero” program which has previously honoured ballerina Misty Copeland, Olympic fencer Ibtihaj Muhammad and model Ashley Graham.
“These women come from diverse backgrounds and fields and are breaking boundaries to inspire the next generation of girls."
The new collection includes our home grown Bindi Irwin, alongside pilot Amelia Earhart, Mathematician Katherine Johnson and Olympain Chloe Kim.
“Barbie honors women who have broken boundaries in their fields and have been an inspiration to the next generation of girls with a one-of-a-kind doll made in their likeness.”
With 86% of US moms worried about the type of role models their daughters are exposed to, we are committed to shining a light on empowering female role models in an effort to inspire more girls.

The new Shero Barbies are not currently for sale, but Mattel did eventually release the “Inspiring Doll” collection due to public demand, so there is still hope!
