The are so many incredible things to do, see, try and taste at the Eco Expo with a range of exhibitors from electric vehicles and a range of solar powered Tesla Tiny Houses, to chemical free gardening, food, wine, beauty and skincare.
For Foodies – There are free health and cooking demonstrations available each day. DIY cheese making, edible herbs and DIY fermented foods; vegan risotto demonstrations by celebrity chef, Alejandro Cancino; and seminars by urban farmer, Permaculturist and gut health guru, Green Dean.
There’s a ‘Vegan Pop Up Market’ run by the Brisbane Vegan Market crew, along with a dedicated sector focusing on food and wine options of chemical-free, natural, fair-trade, gluten-free, certified organic, to non-GMO.
TV climate change guru and documentarian, Khory Hancock, known as the ‘The Environmental Cowboy’, will host the ‘Commune Eco Brunch’ each day, a dining experience where you can enjoy delicious foods accompanied by organic and vegan wines.
For Families – ‘How To’ workshops and performances for kids to inspire our future generation, including activities with Scouts Queensland as well as ‘The Recycleman’. Meet mini movers and shakers such as 14 year old environmentalist and worldwide eco activist, Holley Somerville Knott, and Arlian Ecker known as the Plastic Free Boy, who’s just been on The Project for his documentary film on the problems and solutions of plastic pollution.
Eco workshops and sustainability seminars – Withguest speakers such as legendary Sea Shepherd Captain Peter Hammarsted; sustainable gardener, Kate Wall; vegan activist, Scott Wallace; and Isabella Morand speaking on the Australian Conservation Foundation’s strategy to put climate damage on the agenda at the next Federal Election.

Walking their talk, the Eco Expo is a plastic free event which means no plastic utensils and bags so you will need to byo. They have also partnered with Mallow Sustainability who will be composting all organic waste from the event
It’s set to be a fantastic weekend. I’ll be visiting the expo on Friday the 14th so if you’re around come say hi!

Cost: Tickets are available at the event, or online. Children under 14 are free with a paying guardian.
The first 250 people to arrive each day will receive a free ‘Eco Swag Bag’ containing a number of eco-friendly products from exhibitors. Each ticket purchased includes a $2 donation to the visitor’s choice of charity at the event entry.
