The Story

Independent surf boutique, Salt Gypsy is creating ripples in the ocean activewear scene.

Their line of durable surf clothing, ranging from rashguards, surf leggings, tops, bottoms, and throw-over tees, will knock fellow surfers off their boards in a wave of envy.

Founder, Danielle Clayton, has spent a lifetime chasing swells, and more recently, three seasons along the tropical coast of the Maldives as a surf guide.

What originally started as a personal blog back in 2012 to share her love for salt water bliss and showcasing indie surf designers, Salt Gypsy has now turned into an online destination for some of Australia’s hottest female surf wear.

The inspiration came about after Danielle struggled to find eco-friendly surf leggings that truly resonated with her style and needs. So she went to work designing her own. Her followers lapped them up and so the mesmerising pieces you see today took form.

She now resides in the boho and surfing mecca of Byron Bay.

As an avid surfer herself, Danielle designed the range for the saltwater-loving gypsy who wants durable and eco-friendly surfwear that celebrates female surf athleticism. They are the first women’s surf company to offset production energy costs in line with R-certified standards. This initiative supports a renewable energy project in the Northern Rivers of New South Wales.

Salt Gypsy use 100% regenerated ECONYL fabric.

ECONYL is a recycled yarn that rescues nylon waste from landfill. Salt Gypsy’s range is responsibly manufactured using this sustainable fabric so you too can rise to the occasion of helping to preserve our precious oceans and bathe in guilt-free surf; day in and day out.
