Officeworks Launches a New Recycling Program For Pens, Markers and Batteries

The Green Hub

In Partnership with Officeworks

This National Recycling Week, Officeworks is launching a new exciting recycling program. They’re upgrading all their recycling collection points so you can now take your old batteries, pens, and markers to Officeworks stores Australia wide to be recycled.

In addition to the new recycling initiative, Officeworks has a new recycling target of 90% of all waste generated across 2019/2020. This is such a fantastic move forward for a store where most of us in Australia get our school and office supplies from. Officeworks is providing solutions and making it easy for us to dispose of our old and used items responsibly.

Recycling programs

In 2005, Officeworks started the Cartridges 4 Planet Ark program, which has seen customers drop off more than 10 million ink and toner cartridges at its stores for recycling. In 2012, they established Bring it Back, which provides customers the opportunity to recycle computers and laptops, monitors, keyboards, printers, mice, hard drives, mobile phones and accessories, cables, chargers, DVDs and CDs for free at dedicated collection points across its store network. To date, customers have recycled more than 4,800 tonnes of e-waste as part of this program.

Effective recycling programs like this really do make a difference. If every household did this, imagine how much waste we would save from going to landfill! Remember, when done collectively, every little action counts.

The recycling program is free and you can find your drop off points using the store locator online here.
